New TikTok Shop ads run on GMV Max. We steer it toward profit.
Since July 2025, GMV Max has been the only campaign type for new TikTok Shop ads. We set the targets, supply the creative and read the results, so your budget works for margin rather than volume alone.
Easy to switch on. Hard to steer.
You set a budget, picked a target and watched GMV Max either spend fast or refuse to spend at all. The dashboard shows sales, but after fees, commissions and ad costs you cannot tell whether the campaign actually made money. Nobody can tell you which number to change next.
What we manage inside GMV Max
The automation decides who sees which video; we manage every input that decides whether that is profitable.
Breakeven ROI math
In GMV Max, ROI means sales revenue returned per dollar of ad spend. We calculate the ROI each product needs to cover product cost, platform fees, creator commission and shipping, and that number anchors every target we set.
Target ROI and budgets
Targets start from your breakeven point, not the platform’s suggestion. We move them deliberately as data arrives, never in daily panic swings.
Product GMV Max campaigns
We decide which products get their own campaign, which are grouped and which wait until listings, reviews and stock are ready to carry paid traffic.
LIVE GMV Max campaigns
For stores that stream, LIVE campaigns bring paid viewers into your broadcast while a host is selling. We tie their targets to the offers planned for each session.
Creative supply
GMV Max draws on organic videos, paid ads, affiliate posts and LIVE content. We keep new videos flowing and authorize the strongest affiliate content with Spark codes, the permission that lets a brand run a creator’s video as an ad.
Spend and delivery diagnostics
When a campaign will not spend or suddenly stalls, we work through the usual causes in order: a target set too high, thin creative, product eligibility or a budget too small to learn from.
ROI protection tracking
TikTok now credits some campaigns that fall well short of their target. We track which of your campaigns qualify and which exclusions apply, so no eligible credit is missed.
Reporting on profit
Weekly notes and a monthly report show spend, GMV (gross merchandise value), ROI and estimated contribution margin by product. Each one lists what we changed and why.
From first audit to steady spend
Margin and account audit
We map unit economics for every product, review existing campaigns and check creative supply, product eligibility and stock depth.
Campaign architecture
We set product groupings, starting targets and daily budgets, and prepare LIVE campaigns if you stream.
Launch and learning
Campaigns go live with measured targets and a bank of creative ready. We give the system time to gather signal before changing anything.
Calibrate
Targets and budgets are adjusted on a fixed rhythm. Creative that has stopped converting is retired and replaced with new videos.
Scale what pays
Budget shifts toward the products and videos earning above breakeven. Products that cannot clear it are paused or repriced rather than funded indefinitely.
Review and reset
Each monthly report sets the next month’s targets, flags the creative running low and links ad plans to upcoming promotions and stock.
Targets come from your margins, not the dashboard
Most GMV Max problems start with a target ROI picked by feel. We build every target from your real costs, so each campaign has a clear line between profit and loss. Then we treat creative as fuel: the automation can only work with the videos it is given, so a steady supply matters as much as any setting. Finally, we change things on a schedule, because GMV Max needs time to learn and constant tinkering resets the very signal it depends on.
- Breakeven ROI calculated per product before launch
- Creative pipeline planned together with your creator program
- Changes made on a schedule, with the reasoning written down
Built for the right shops.
A great fit if you
- Sellers already spending on GMV Max without clear profit numbers
- Stores whose campaigns will not spend, or spend and then stall
- Brands with strong affiliate videos that are not yet used in ads
- Sellers running LIVE who want paid traffic during broadcasts
- Owners who want each week's decisions explained in plain language
Probably not a fit if you
- Stores with no products listed yet or unresolved account issues
- Sellers hoping ads will rescue a product with no margin
- Anyone who needs a promised return before the first campaign runs
Ways to work with us on ads
GMV Max management runs monthly. Your ad spend stays in your own ads account and is billed by TikTok, separate from our fee. That fee is quoted per store on the strategy call and depends on catalog size, campaign count and whether LIVE is included.
GMV Max only
We run campaigns, targets and reporting. Your team or your creators supply the videos.
GMV Max with creative
We run the ads and build the creative pipeline through our creator research and affiliate services.
Inside TokVendors 360
Ads run as one module of the full program, sharing a single plan with stock, listings and creators.
GMV Max work appears on our case studies page with each client’s permission, method shown alongside outcome. See case studies →
What is GMV Max?
GMV Max is TikTok’s automated campaign type for TikTok Shop. It uses organic videos, paid ads, affiliate posts and LIVE content, and optimizes delivery toward a target ROI you set. Since July 2025 it has been the only campaign type for new TikTok Shop ads.
If GMV Max is automated, what does a GMV Max agency do?
The automation chooses who sees which video. It does not choose your target, your budget, which products to push or what creative exists. Those inputs decide whether the campaign is profitable, and they are what we manage.
What target ROI should I start with?
Start from breakeven: the ROI at which a sale covers product cost, fees, commission and shipping. We usually begin near or slightly above that line and adjust as data comes in. A target set far above breakeven often stops a campaign from spending at all.
Why is my GMV Max campaign not spending?
The common causes are a target ROI set too high, too few eligible videos, products that are not eligible, or a budget too small for the system to learn. We check each one in order before changing anything, because fixing the wrong cause wastes a week.
What is GMV Max ROI protection?
From February 25, 2026, TikTok offers credits when a campaign’s ROI falls below 90% of its daily target ROI on days with more than 20 orders. Exclusions apply. We track eligibility for each campaign and confirm the current terms in your ads account.
Do you manage LIVE GMV Max?
Yes. If you stream, LIVE campaigns can send viewers into your broadcast while it runs. We plan them with the session schedule so budget lands while a host is presenting an offer.
How much budget does GMV Max need, and who controls it?
There is no universal figure. The right budget depends on your breakeven ROI, how much creative you have and how much stock you can sell. We start at a level the system can learn from without risking more than the data justifies. You control it throughout: campaigns run in your own ads account, and we flag any proposed change before it happens.
