Quick answer: To connect Shopify to TikTok Shop, add the TikTok channel from Settings, then Sales channels, then the Shopify App Store in your Shopify admin, connect or create your TikTok Shop account, verify your business, and set up your warehouse and shipping. Your active products then sync to TikTok Shop, Shopify becomes the source of truth for product data, prices and inventory, and TikTok orders flow back into Shopify for fulfillment.
For brands already selling on Shopify, the TikTok integration is the fastest route onto TikTok Shop. It reuses your catalog, keeps inventory in one place and brings TikTok orders into the admin your team already uses.
It also has quirks. Most of the problems we see come from a handful of settings and habits, such as editing products in the wrong place or leaving locations half filled. This guide covers setup, how sync actually works and the fixes for common errors, based on Shopify’s and TikTok’s own documentation as of October 2026. For the full launch sequence, see our guide on how to start a TikTok Shop.
Before you start: requirements checklist
On the Shopify side
- A store located in a supported country. Shopify lists the US, UK, Spain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Japan and Brazil. A US Shopify store connects only to TikTok Shop US.
- A verifiable address in Settings, then Locations.
- An online store with a visible return policy page.
- Products that meet TikTok’s product guidelines for your region.
- A TikTok for Business account, which you can create during onboarding if you do not have one.
On the TikTok side (US)
- A US business location or warehouse address. P.O. boxes are not supported.
- Complete location fields in Shopify, with a 10 digit phone number and a 5 digit ZIP code.
- Location names of 35 characters or fewer, with an address that matches what Google Maps shows.
- Weight and dimensions on every product, because TikTok uses them to calculate shipping.
- The TikTok Shop owner account. Other roles see a “Seller not main account” error.
- Your verification documents ready, since a new shop goes through the same identity and business checks as any seller. Have your ID, tax details and, for businesses, your IRS EIN notice ready before you start.
Step by step: connecting Shopify to TikTok Shop
Shopify’s help center describes the setup like this:
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Sales channels.
- Click Shopify App Store, log in if prompted, and search for “TikTok.”
- Click Add channel.
- On the Set up TikTok Shop page, click Connect in the TikTok Shop section.
- Log in with your TikTok for Business account, or enter a phone number, email and password to register as a merchant.
- Review the TikTok Shop merchant terms in the “Connect to Shopify?” dialog and click Connect.
- In the Shop information section, click Verify, complete the Upload Documents fields, and click Next.
- Click Finish setup.
TikTok’s onboarding guide adds the steps that happen inside the flow:
- Warehouse and return address: US locations saved in Shopify sync automatically as your warehouse and return location. You can edit them later and add up to 45 pickup warehouses plus one return warehouse.
- Shipping: new US sellers default to TikTok Shipping. If you choose Seller Shipping, you must complete a shipping fee template before products upload.
- Tax information: optional at setup and can be completed later, but TikTok requires tax documents before you can keep receiving payment beyond $2,000 in earnings.
- Bank account: linked in Seller Center under Account Settings, then Payment.
Once your shop is approved, the app shows its status as Ready, and the Manage Shop button opens Seller Center.
Already selling on TikTok Shop? Link before you sync
If you have an existing Seller Center catalog, the order of operations matters. TikTok requires existing sellers to link all their TikTok Shop products to Shopify products before setup completes.
- Auto link: products with identical SKU IDs on both platforms link automatically. Clean up SKUs first.
- Manual link: use the “Map now” banner on the Products on Shopify tab for anything that did not match.
- Other connectors: revoke access for any previous third party app in Seller Center under Growth, then Apps and Services. Other listing or order apps can only run alongside the TikTok app if they are compatible with it.
- Holiday Mode: if you need a pause during migration, Holiday Mode sets the chosen warehouse’s inventory to zero for the period you select.

TokVendors connects Shopify to TikTok Shop, maps your catalog, configures shipping and sync settings, and fixes errors before they turn into cancelled orders.
How catalog, inventory and order sync work
The single most important rule: Shopify is the source of truth. TikTok’s guide states that edits made in Seller Center are overwritten by Shopify data, apart from TikTok required attributes that Shopify does not hold. TikTok also warns never to create products directly in Seller Center, because orders for those products cannot be created in Shopify.
| Data | Direction | Timing and rules |
|---|---|---|
| Products | Shopify to TikTok | Only Active Shopify products sync. Updates to product fields, variants, and publishing status trigger incremental syncs. New sellers can sync up to 100 products per day. |
| Inventory | Shopify to TikTok | Manual inventory changes can take up to 3 minutes to reflect. An optional threshold shows stock as zero on TikTok below a number you set. |
| Price | Shopify to TikTok | Changes reflect immediately but go through product review. Active TikTok promotions can lock price edits. |
| Orders | TikTok to Shopify | Orders placed after installation appear in Shopify. New orders sit On Hold for up to one hour so buyers can cancel. |
| Fulfillment | Shopify to TikTok | Tracking entered in Shopify syncs to TikTok. Carriers must be mapped to TikTok supported carriers. |
| Refunds | Handled in TikTok | Refunds processed in the Shopify admin are not supported; use Seller Center or the app’s Return and Refund tab. |
Sync controls
In the app’s Shop Management tab, three controls are switched on by default: Product Info, Inventory and Price. They apply to all products at once, not to selected ones. When a control is on, make edits in Shopify, not Seller Center. Turning Inventory off freezes TikTok stock, which some brands use to reserve a fixed allocation during peak periods.
Choosing what syncs
By default, all products sync on installation. To exclude a product, open it in Shopify, go to Publishing, then Manage sales channels, and deselect TikTok. You can also bulk sync by Shopify tags, categories or product types, and apply category templates in the app’s bulk editor to fill TikTok’s required attributes.
Common errors and how to fix them
| Error or symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| “We couldn’t connect TikTok Shop with your Shopify account” | Different logins for TikTok Shop and TikTok for Business | Use the same credentials for both, matching the email on your Shopify account, then retry |
| “Seller not main account” | A nonowner role is trying to connect | Log in as the TikTok Shop owner, or disconnect TikTok for Business, connect the Shop first, then add the owner as admin on the business and pixel accounts |
| Only “TikTok for Marketing” appears | Cross region connection | Check the billing country under Shopify Settings, then General; US stores connect only to TikTok US |
| Location address issue | P.O. box, incomplete fields, long location name, invalid phone or ZIP | Use a US street address, 10 digit phone, 5 digit ZIP, name of 35 characters or fewer, matching Google Maps |
| Only 100 products synced | New seller daily sync limit | Wait for the daily reset and prioritize your best products first |
| Weight or dimensions show 0 | Shopify does not require them; TikTok does | Add weights and dimensions in Shopify or Seller Center; products without weight may not be purchasable |
| Sync failed or Review failed | Missing attributes or policy issues | Hover over the status for the reason, edit, then Save and Sync |
| Description will not sync | Formatting in the description, or an active promotion locking the price | Use plain text; if a promotion is active, revert the price, sync, then reapply the promotion |
| Seller Center shows zero stock | Incomplete mapping, inventory sync off, or a variant out of stock | Map all products, check sync settings, then resync |
| “The SKU stock must be between [0,999999]” | Negative stock at a warehouse | Correct the stock level to between 0 and 999,999 |
| “This carrier is not supported on TikTok Shop” | Shopify carrier name does not match a TikTok carrier | Find the exact carrier name in the order data, then add a carrier mapping in the app’s fulfillment settings |
| Order did not sync to Shopify | Item was out of stock or the warehouse had zero stock | Fulfill it in Seller Center; keep stock buffers and alerts to prevent repeats |
| Orphan order that cannot ship | A product or variant was created directly in TikTok Shop | Map it immediately with “Map now”; never create products in Seller Center |
| GTIN or UPC missing on TikTok | These fields do not sync automatically | Enter them manually per product in TikTok Shop |
Unresolved sync problems are not just an inconvenience. Orders you cannot fulfill turn into cancellations, and seller fault cancellations above 2.5% can cost Account Health Rating points. Our guide to TikTok Shop account health explains the thresholds.
Best practices for a clean integration
- Clean SKUs first. Unique, consistent SKUs make auto linking work and prevent duplicate listings.
- Fill weights and dimensions before connecting. It avoids zero values, wrong shipping charges and unpurchasable products.
- Start with a focused catalog. Sync your strongest products first, especially with a 100 per day limit for new sellers.
- Set an inventory threshold. A small buffer protects you from overselling during a sudden spike.
- Never fulfill On Hold orders. Buyers can cancel during the first hour.
- Process TikTok refunds in TikTok. Train your team that Shopify refunds do not apply to TikTok orders.
- Audit the Action required tab weekly. Small sync errors compound if nobody looks.
- Write TikTok specific titles carefully. TikTok’s guidance favors descriptive titles; if you need different copy on TikTok, check the app’s current guidance on the Product Info sync setting before editing in Seller Center, because edits there go through review and can be overwritten while sync is on.

Frequently asked questions
Is the TikTok app for Shopify free?
Shopify’s App Store lists the TikTok app as free to install, with additional charges that may apply, such as ad spend billed to your TikTok ad account. Selling on TikTok Shop itself carries TikTok’s referral fees on each order, plus any shipping, commission and ad costs.
Why are my Shopify products not showing on TikTok Shop?
Only Active Shopify products published to the TikTok channel sync, and new sellers can sync up to 100 products per day. Products also fail to go live if required attributes, weight or dimensions are missing, or if they fail TikTok’s review. Check the status and hover over any Sync failed or Review failed label for the reason.
Does TikTok Shop inventory sync with Shopify automatically?
Yes, when the Inventory sync control is on, which it is by default. TikTok says manual inventory changes can take up to 3 minutes to reflect. You can also set a threshold so stock below a chosen number shows as zero on TikTok to reduce overselling.
Can I connect one Shopify store to two TikTok Shops?
No. TikTok’s FAQ states that one Shopify store can connect to only one TikTok Shop account at a time. To use another TikTok Shop account, disconnect the current one or create a separate Shopify store.
Where do I process refunds for TikTok orders synced to Shopify?
Process them in TikTok Seller Center or the app’s Return and Refund tab. TikTok’s guide says refunds processed in the Shopify admin are not supported for TikTok Shop orders and trigger a notice.
